Wake up, wake up, wake up it’s the first of tha month… of October! After only having my fall decorations up for a few weeks, I transitioned to a spooky Halloween scene today. I used to try to decorate the entire house but it’s too much and I enjoy just doing the dining area. Less is more! I also want to do the outside but we’ll see if I get around to that. I got my ideas from searching images and slowly buying things over the past few weeks. I think it came out great! Bless’er House has some great potion printables on her site but you do have to sign up for her newsletter. Good news, she sends some great decor tips and styles once you sign up! Once I started scrolling through her entryway post, it led me to The Graphics Fairy for more potion printables and to Made Everday. for a template for bat cutouts. I’m still working on cutting out and putting the bats on the wall so forgive me, my spooky dining room isn’t complete.
I actually used the template as a guide and made my bats a tad smaller since I only have 2 sheets of black construction paper. Gotta make do with what I have!
As for cooking today, I made an apple baked oatmeal. I can only watch so many cooking and baking shows until I have the urge to make something! I wanted something breakfasty and found this recipe from My Kitchen Craze. I actually saw a different recipe that used old fashioned oats so I did that instead and used a Gala apple rather than a Granny Smith. Again, making do with what I have! Oh, and I didn’t have any pecans so I exed that too. It looks and tastes great! I did put the modified recipe into my calorie counter and for 12 servings, it’s 250 calories. Not too bad. I’m always curious about these things so I decided to save you a step 😉 I’ll have to post a picture before I eat some for breakfast tomorrow. I’ll be topping it with some syrup for shore!
For dinner, I’m working on making a vegetarian shepherd’s pie. It is Meatless Monday after all! Instead of potatoes, I bought some frozen mashed cauliflower which I’ll add to the top before I throw it in the oven. I scaled down the servings and used fresh mushrooms, canned peas and carrots. I also added lentils for some protein. Paul loves them!

In addition to cooking, I did start on some projects this morning but they still need a little work. I had a few appointments today so that’s why some of my work is half-a**ed. Sorry, mom!
The tray, tins, and spoon set are all new. If you haven’t heard of mudpie, I suggest you check it out. They have the CUTEST things on their website! As for the sign, it needs some lovin’.
I also added the cute sign below to our entryway. I saw one similar for sale at Hobby Lobby but decided to go the cheaper way out and found a printable on Etsy. It took me a few tries to get the right size I wanted for that wall. I really like it but I think the wall needs something else. Any suggestions?!

I don’t have much else for today and will update with more pictures once all my projects are done. Welp, see ya later!
